Dames began her news reporting career at the Huntington Advertiser newspaper in

. She made the transition from print journalism to broadcasting when she joined
WTOP-AM News Radio in

D.C.
From there she went into television news as a writer first for WJLA-TV in
Washington

D.C.
and later for CBS News Nightwatch. She has also worked for the CNN
Washington, D.C. bureau as a field and package producer. Ms. Dames spent
the bulk of her television news career with BET News in
Washington
,
D.C.
where she worked for 15 years as a writer, reporter, producer and anchor. CEBA
Award for co-producing BET News special "Murder Madness" and CABLE ACE
Award nominee for reporting, producing, and writing BET News special
"Beyond the End." Ms
Dames is currently working as a freelance producer.
