SOWBHAGYALAKSHMI AREKE, MFA in Film - Howard University
 Scriptwriting and Digital Editing

Sowbhagyalakshmi Areke has taught  film, video, and radio writing and production courses at Howard University, Bowie State University, Loyola College, and Morgan State University.  She has written, produced, directed, and edited several video and film projects for the past 14 years.  Her productions include "'Sruti Bedham" (Out of Tune), and a 60-minute documentary entitled: "Spouse Abuse: A Global Perspective."  Her research, writing, and production center on women, social issues, and human interest stories. She has written several articles in newspapers and magazines, and has also authored a language book.  She is a recipient of the NATPE Faculty Development Grant and UFVA/Kodak Scholarship.  Currently, she is the Executive Director of Majestic Pictures, a film, video and audio production and distribution company in Maryland.
