This course is for students who want to learn to direct short and feature films. It offers a comprehensive overview of the director’s role in pre-production, production, and post- production.  Students will learn how to break down script, turn a master scene script into a camera direction script, storyboarding, scheduling, visual story telling, conduct auditions, casting, do blocking, conduct rehearsals, and direct actors and crew.

In pre-production, students are involved in detailed planning and preparation, developing the story, working out the logistics of a shoot within time and budget constraints, location scouting, casting, and rehearsing.

During production, student directors manage all aspects of the shoot including technical and human resources.  They make creative decisions and may be responsible for writing or re-writing parts of the script as required.

In post-production, students oversee editing and sound design.
